Well, 2020 has definitely been a life changing year. We’ve all had to change our lifestyles in various (and for many of us, drastic) ways, while seeing these changes play out as the collective societal norm. This is scary, uncharted territory, and can make many of us feel paralyzed. It’s as if we’re eternally asking the question, “Okay, what happens now?” To be in this constant mindset of uncertainty can feel overwhelming and wreak havoc on our minds, our bodies, and our soul. There are many things we can lean on however, to remedy the anxiety, alleviate the stress, and allow us to let go of knowing that we are navigating through the unknown. The “many things” I’m talking about are simply “creations”. Creating and building what brings love and joy into your life while following your life’s purpose. If you don’t know what your purpose is, then simply doing what you love will lead you to it. Your purpose may look different throughout stages of your life, but what your soul truly longs for will not change. I know my purpose is using my voice, and my words for positive change through writing and interpretation.
This leads me to this 2020 Hollywood Music and Media Awards nomination. I love performing, I love writing music, and I love interpreting music the way I hear it and/or see it in my head. This song has many different forms, but to be recognized for our version is such an honor and blessing knowing that this song has resonated with so many. This song, for me, has generated the most responses, and insight, from people all over the world. People have commented all the way from Russia to Norway to the Netherlands. It truly does not matter that the song is sung in Spanish. If a melody or vibe of a musical piece hits you, then your soul will feel it. I’m so grateful on so many levels for this HMMA nomination, and look forward to the first virtual event for the 2020 HMMA Awards this year.
